About

Our barber shop, located at 811-815 Whittaker Parkway, was built on family land by esteemed local African American contractor Mr. Douglas Jennings, and sits across from Whittaker Elementary School—named for Miller F. Whittaker, S.C. State University's third president and South Carolina's first practicing African American architect. This location was chosen by our father to inspire both students and the local community, showing that with a dream, plan, and dedication, owning a business and achieving self-employment are within reach.

Over his 60-year career in barbering, our father trained hundreds of young barbers, with many eventually owning their shops throughout the southeast and mid-Atlantic. Our mother contributed immensely as the shop bookkeeper, community tax preparer, and in various roles at St. Paul Baptist Church, where both our parents served diligently. Our family’s deep community involvement extends to our mother volunteering as a poll worker at local elections.

Proudly serving the greater Orangeburg community for over six decades, we are committed to continuing our legacy of professional excellence and community empowerment, honoring the principles of our founders, Paul and Josephine.
